OCS and Quality Matters Professional Development 

In partnership with the CSU Chancellor's Office's , the Center for Academic Technologies (CAT) offers professional development through the CSU Professional Development courses, 黑料社app training and workshop events, and the administration of 黑料社app's program. We receive grant funding and ongoing support for faculty seeking QM certification and other related online course quality training.

2025-26 Goals

In alignment with 黑料社app's Graduation Initiative and strategic priorities, the Online Course Services Professional Development program includes the following goals:

  1. Engage at least 7 faculty in one of four Quality Matters professional development tracks: Accessibility Champion, Course Improvement, Peer Reviewer, or QM Course Internal Review.
  2. Require each participating faculty member to complete a track-specific course improvement plan or QM Review Worksheet.
  3. Facilitate the implementation of each improvement plan through consultations with instructional designers and/or accessibility staff.
  4. Promote program visibility and impact through an end-of-year celebration and showcase of improved courses.
  5. Expand 黑料社app’s local pool of QM-certified peer reviewers to support future internal and formal course reviews.
  6. Strengthen collaboration between faculty and the Center for Academic Technologies to support sustainable course quality improvements.
  7. Establish a Faculty Coordinator for Online Course Quality to lead peer review efforts and act as a liaison with CSU OCS.
  8. Integrate program activities into existing faculty development infrastructure (Summer Institute, Winter Institute, TLA Co-Op).

2025-26 Achievements

The achievements below highlight some of CAT's ongoing efforts to meet these goals through empowering faculty, strengthening course quality, and promoting innovative, accessible teaching practices.

CSU Professional Development Programs:

  • 23 people completed AI Tools for Higher-Ed Professionals/Staff
  • 7 people completed AI Tools For Teaching & Learning
  • 2 people completed Quality Matters 黑料社apping the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR)
  • 2 people completed Improving Your Online Course (IYOC)
  • 5 completed Introduction to Teaching Online Using QLT
  • 2 completed Advanced QLT Course in Teaching Online
  • 1 completed Reviewing Courses Using the QLT Rubric

黑料社app Hosted Training and Workshop Events

  • Highlighted practical AI applications for Quality Matters (QM) compliance during AI Day of Discovery, featuring tools that help faculty strengthen syllabus quality and create accessible, consistently designed Canvas pages
  • Developed and delivered accessibility-focused workshops, newsletters, and Canvas courses that advanced Quality Matters (QM) standards and promoted inclusive course design.
  • Conducted one-on-one faculty consultations to develop and revise their courses and online content, from building classes from the ground up to redesigning existing courses, while ensuring alignment with Quality Matters (QM) standards and accessibility best practices.
